Girls Trip!

What a fun few days!  Since Ryan is in Alaska, I decided to take the girls on a little getaway for a few days.  On Monday morning, we headed out to Chattanooga.  We had a blast!  I took over 300 pictures in just three days, and I have narrowed it down here...it wasn't easy!

We headed straight to the Children's Museum when we got in.  The girls loved this place when we visited in December, and they couldn't wait to get back.  We spent almost 5 hours there, and I think they would have been more than happy to spend even more time there.  They both love the water feature area and the playground above it.
They enjoyed creating their own cartoons.
Playing with clay is always fun.
Painting with water is a favorite.
While Mia enjoyed the stamping area, Lily had a good time with rubbings.  They both made about 8 or 9 pages in these areas.
Lily was fascinated by the mineral, crystal and critter area.  She studied the minerals and crystals, noting their sizes, colors and shapes.  Then she moved on to study the critters.  In this picture, she's watching the Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches before moving on to the gecko, millipede, corn snake and tarantula.
Mia would have been happy to spend hours in the sand digging for fossils.  She loved this area!
Next up was a little pretend play.  First they were dinosaurs before moving over to become doctors.
Lily enjoyed the science area a lot too.
The girls worked together to build this race set; they had fun rolling the balls down to see what worked on the course and what didn't.
They loved the bee area.  Here they dressed up as bees, but they also studied the live honeycomb with its bees in the window.
The rotating exhibit had some fun things from the mid-1800s in it.  It was based on one of the Magic Tree House books.  Here they are pretending to take a carriage ride, but they also enjoyed "driving" a coal train.
We spent some time in the area for kids 5 and under.  Lily was a little bored until they discovered the train set.  Mia however loved being in here as things were closer to her size.  She cleaned the house, played in a tree house, drove a car, built a dog house and painted it here.
The girls showed some self-expression with face painting.
Lily listening to the ocean in a shell.
Finally, at almost 3, we walked over to check into our hotel and rest for a little bit.  About 4:30, everyone got back up, ate a little snack and then headed over to Ruby Falls since it was raining.  The girls were fascinated by this excursion!  They were amazed they were down inside a mountain and walking through a cave.  Of course, they thought the waterfall all lit up was beautiful too.  This was definitely a great part of the trip.
Enjoying the view of Chattanooga from Ruby Falls after the rain had stopped.
Mia was elated to get this miner's hat as her souvenir!
Both girls were worn out on Monday night!
On Tuesday morning, we drove up to Jefferson City to visit with our Granny and with my mom who was also in town visiting.  This was a great treat for all of us!  The girls showed off some of their skills for her.  Lily read a book to her and showed her how she learned to tie tennis shoes.  Mia told a few jokes, danced and did a few karate moves.
After spending some time at Granny's home, we all drove over to Morristown to enjoy a lovely lunch at Timeless Elegance.  The girls loved their individual tea pots and cups!
After lunch we headed back to Chattanooga and both girls took good naps in the car.  We actually headed straight over to the Sepulveda's house where we enjoyed a great evening with them.  The kids get along so well, and I had a wonderful time catching up with Allison and Michael.
On Wednesday morning, we ate breakfast and then checked-out of the hotel.  Allison met us at the aquarium to get us guest passes which was very appreciated.
My little fish in the tank.
We all enjoyed the Ranger Rick bird show.  The toucan was beautiful, the screech owl was interesting and the parrot was fun as he repeated sounds for us.
 Having fun!
Mia couldn't help but pet the sturgeon, sharks and rays.
Taking a break and enjoying the view.
Holding still in hopes a butterfly would land on their hands.
Watching the penguins.  This was a favorite exhibit for us.
In the shark tank.  Mia said she couldn't wait to do one of these for real when she was older.  When I explained that it meant she would be inside it and lowered into the ocean and surrounded by sharks, she said "I know.  That will be awesome!"
Mia in with the king crabs; Lily refused to get in here.
This note was my reward of this wonderful getaway.  You can believe it was absolutely worth it!

More White Water Fun!

Another fun day at White Water!

The girls were ready to go.
After putting our things down, we headed straight over to the Bahama Bobslide.  The girls couldn't wait to show Bama how to ride it!

After riding it three times in a row (love how there are no lines in the morning!), we headed into the lazy river.  Mia preferred to float along in her life vest.
Bama and Lily floated along on tubes.
After some time in the river we headed into the wave pool.  I loved having the girls on this double-raft.  It made it much easier to keep them from tipping over when the waves got really high.  Mia said she was a little scared, so I told her to find her superhero courage.  She took a deep breath and yelled "Na na na na na na! You don't scare me waves!"
We played very briefly in the kids' area before going over to "the mushroom pool" as the girls call it.  It's just a little swimming area but they have a few of these tall mushrooms that spray down lots of water.  The girls had a lot of fun going in and out of the them.
 Bama gave swing rides!
Both girls practiced their swimming a little bit.  Mia is getting good!
After this we ate a little lunch and then let the girls play in the kids' pirate ship area for awhile before we headed out.  Mia especially didn't want to leave, but I promised her with our season pass, we will come back soon.  We love this place!

Mid-June Fun

In addition to our recent date nights (see previous post), here is some other fun we have been having around our house over the last couple of weeks.

Breaking out the Slip and Slide.  The girls couldn't wait!
Getting chomped in the shark jaws!
Sliding on through!  The girls had a blast with this.  Two of our older lady neighbors stopped by too just to watch the girls who were squealing with delight.
I want our girls to learn about compassion and generosity, and I look for opportunities to teach them this.  Last Monday, several friends from school got together to make lunches for kids using Must Ministries' services.  The adults made ham and cheese sandwiches while the kids decorated lunch bags.  After they decorated them, they came in to put an applesauce, small bag of chips and juice box in their bag; the sandwiches are kept separate and put in by Must.  We prayed over the bags and for the children who would receive them.  This was a great time with friends teaching our kids and giving to others.
Liz took the girls to the park where they made and flew these planes.  The girls had a lot of fun!
Last week, Mia went to VBS at Chattahoochee and had a wonderful time with their superhero theme.  While she was at VBS, Lily went to Art Camp at her school.  She loves to be creative and work on art projects.  She also loves Mrs. Rodriguez, so we knew she would have a great time at this camp.  We were right.  At the end of the week, the class put together a little art exhibit, so all their work could be displayed.  Lily was so proud that Mom, Dad, Ryan and I were able to come and see all the work.  Here she is showing off her pink lemonade drawing to Mom and Dad.  She was very excited to bring everything home to show Liz and Mia who had been napping.  This was a great week for her.
Fun times!

Lots of Date Nights

There were lots of date nights at our house last week!

One evening, Ryan and I went to the Brad Paisley concert.  It was fantastic!  He is one of my favorite artists and performers.  The Henningsens and Chris Young opened and put on a good show too.

On a second evening, Ryan took Lily to Veni, Vidi, Vici which is their special dinner spot.  On the same evening, I took Mia to Buckhead Diner.  We both enjoy time spent with each girl individually; they are such awesome kids!

On a third evening, Ryan took Mia out to Kyma.  Here is a combo picture of their evening.  Mia loved that Ryan brought her a beautiful rose.  She thoroughly enjoyed the Greek restaurant, and her time with Daddy.
After dinner, they headed to Toys R Us for a little surprise.  Mia excitedly picked out a princess music set which she has enjoyed this week.  They also picked up some new super soaker water guns, and we had a very fun water fight after we all got home!
On that same day, I picked Lily up from art camp and surprised her with a trip to LEGOLAND at Phillps Plaza.  Lily has loved her Lego's over this past month.  She was so excited!
Once we walked in, we saw how Legos are made which was neat.  We saw that Lily weighs the same as 24,500 Legos!  After that, we rode a fun ride where we shot lasers to save the princess.  Lily was nervous at first, but quickly fell in love with it.  After that ride, we walked through the Lego Atlanta exhibit.  It was really cool.  There were tons of famous Atlanta landmarks all made from Legos; I loved this part!  After walking through the Lego Stone Mountain, we headed into the rest of the land which Lily loved.  She couldn't wait to start building!  Here she is testing her building skills on a pad that shakes to see how sturdy the buildings are.
Ready to watch the first of three 4D movies.  She thought these 15 minutes films were awesome, especially when we went through the "snow" and foam bubbles fell down on us.
We spent a lot of time building in the Lego Friends area.
 Hopscotch!
 Loving the movie entrance.
After our adventure, we spent a little time in the gift shop.  I surprised Lily with one of the Lego sets she has been wanting.  It's a stable with a couple of horses and a cat.  She loved it!  After the gift shop, we ate dinner at Johnny Rockets which is always a yummy treat.
This was a wonderful afternoon and evening.  Lily has said several times since then "this was the best day of my life!"

I think it's safe to say we all enjoy a good date night!

Happy Father's Day!

Ryan is such a great dad to Lily and Mia.  He is loving, kind, compassionate, patient and lots of fun.  He is wonderful to me and takes each girl out on Daddy-Daughter dates; this shows them how a gentleman should treat a lady.  Ryan is a Godly man and leads by example.  I am so proud of him and the dad he is!

At church this morning, the girls made these cards about Ryan.  Mia's is on the left and Lily's is on the right.  They were both right that he loves to watch baseball and football!
So proud to be his daughter!
We actually went to church at Chattahoochee this morning.  Today is Meme's 92nd birthday.  We were thrilled that Randy was able to pick her up and bring her to church this morning.  The family stayed afterwards to enjoy lunch together which was a nice treat.
Meme with a lot of her great-grandchildren.  Jodi and Tiffany's families are both traveling this week, so we were missing those six kids.
Thankful to celebrate Meme.  She is such a wonderful and Godly lady who is loved by all!
