Lily and I went to the grocery store this morning. We were talking about Halloween as we got out of the car. As we walked to the car, Lily was holding my hand (which I love), and this was our conversation:
Me: Do you know what holiday comes after Halloween?
Lily: Ummm, no.
Me: It's Thanksgiving.
Lily: What Thanksgiving?
Me: Do you know what Thanksgiving is?
Lily: No. What is it?
Me: It's a day to tell everything we're really thankful for.
Lily: Oh. Like our prayers?
Me: Yeah, it's kind of like our prayers.
I thought that was so sweet that she put that together. Every night as we say our prayers, we thank God for all our blessings, especially our family. Each night we also say one thing we are especially thankful for that day. We're trying to teach her about gratitude and how truly blessed we are, so hearing her make that connection made me proud. What a sweetheart!
