Brylliant's fall production was Beetlejuice Jr. This show has been a favorite of our family for awhile. We weren't sure how being the junior version would impact the jokes and fun of the show, but it was well done. There are four main characters in this show: Beetlejuice, Lydia, Barbara, and Adam. Mia has loved the Lydia character and had high hopes of playing her. However, she was cast in the role of Barbara. There was a lot to process with that, but Mia gave an excellent performance with humor, grace, and skill.
Barbara and Adam have a great duet near the beginning of the show called "Ready, Set, Not Yet." She has an incredibly fast few lyrics in here; I don't know how someone can sing so quickly!
Meeting Beetljuice; understandably, that's terrifying!
Trying to learn how to scream.
Ready to "haunt this house!"
Beetlejuice controls Adam and Barbara for a fun little song on the rooftop.
The absolute best scene of the whole musical is "Day-O." In this scene, Adam and Barbara possess some of the characters at a dinner party. Mia did a great job of "controlling" Sophie in the role of Delia.
On her off days, Mia was in the ensemble and enjoyed being in "What I Know Now."
Wrapping up the show.
Mia did a wonderful job, even though this show wasn't exactly what we hoped for. I can say with absolute certainty though that I am so incredibly proud of Mia.
